Why do people look at alexa and think you lost traffic?

While browsing the web like I tend to do from time to time (browsing the internet who would have thought?) I stumbled upon this question:
kim asks:
Why do you think traffic is dropping so fast to shoemoney.com I also noticed johnchow.com dropped fast, I dont think it’s due to summer being here.
ShoeMoney: I cant speak for John Chow but our traffic is up about 30% since the first of the year.
This question is pretty basic I am assuming the questioner looked at Shoemoney’s alexa rating and assumed that the traffic went down same with John Chows blog.
If people would take a little bit if time to read, they would realize that a few months ago alexa changed its aglotheram and no longer ranks based on traffic by users with the alexa tool bar only. They now combine many other things along with the total trafic from users with the alexa bar isntalled. What could other things could they be using? Its really up in the air could be search engine rankings, how many link backs or site usability to a number of other things.
I just wanted to make a quick rant to say, “Hey ALEXA has changed and they are not ranking sites like they used to be!”
